MERRY CHRISTMAS TO MY LOVE

Merry Christmas to my love!
Enjoy the holiday!
Revel where the angels move,
Rejoice in what they say!
Years burn life down to a stub;
Christmas comes and goes.
Happiness lies at the nub,
Refuse of one’s woes.
Inside the husk there is the seed,
Shivering with glory;
The midnight cold, the dire need,
Mere setting for the story.
All the labor, loss, and pain
Sings of beauty born again.

SING OF THE HOLIDAYS THAT END THE YEAR

Sing of the holidays that end the year!
Each cause for celebration and reflection.
As darkness rules the earth, sing of good cheer,
Sustained by will and nourished by affection.
Of Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s Eve,
Now sing that you might magnify the light!
Sing, for in your joy you will believe,
Granted grace throughout the bitter night.
Rekindle for these reckonings the fire
Each carries as a favor to the heart,
Eloquent of rapture and desire,
Twin grounds of both sincerity and art.
In quest of fellowship and common feeling,
Needing company, nor care concealing,
Giving and receiving equal measure,
Sing, then, of passion, faith, and simple pleasure!

MY LOVE IS SOMETHING SEPARATE

My love is something separate
From what we say or do.
Though we may have it out with words,
I’m still in love with you.

Just as waves ignore the rocks
On their way to shore,
And keep on coming even if
They see what lies in store,

So I will come, no matter what,
And break, and come again,
And break against your wilderness
Beyond all joy and pain.

THE PAIN WILL NEVER GO AWAY

The pain will never go away;
The wound will never heal.
The evil that was done to you
Is now your eyes, your heart.

The black will never turn to gray;
The blood will not congeal.
The violence is never through;
The past does not depart.

Time will merely make you whole,
Consuming what you are:
Part sufferer, part comforter,
Part victim, part new song;

Part mother of an angry soul,
Part child of despair,
Part witness and part conqueror
Of all that did you wrong.

YOUR SAY DOES NOT DERIVE FROM WHAT YOU SAY

Your say does not derive from what you say.
A child hears the one most often here,
And loves the one whose love’s most often near.
You must have known that when you went away.
The power lies with those who choose to stay,
For parents rule by love far more than fear,
And children follow those they hold most dear.
It takes far more than will to have your way.
And now you want to tell me what to do,
Not having earned the right through years of love
But claiming the authority of seed;
While I will give precisely what is due,
Returning love to those who loving prove;
Serving those who long have served my need.

SECULAR CELEBRATIONS SEEM SO SPARE

Secular celebrations seem so spare,
Even with religious ancestry,
As though the brick beneath what had been there
Stood unadorned where stuccoed grace should be.
Old prayers and praises now sound insincere,
No longer fitting where but reason reigns.
‘Tis the season, nonetheless, for cheer;
Scoured of mystery, mystique remains.
God aside, the dark still turns towards light;
Revolving Earth still tilts into the sun;
Each gift of breath still fills one with delight;
Each child is still all being new begun.
The miracles one celebrates are questions
Implying answers too remote to know.
Nor need one not have faith in the directions
Given those whose fate it is to go
Step by careful step towards what is so.

CHARLIE

Charlie is my golden, longhaired sin.
His eyes tell all his dark brown chocolate thoughts.
All he wants is loving without end,
Ravenous for touching of all sorts.
Left on his own, he cannot comprehend
In lonely misery how I defend
Even just one breath away from him.
Watch the video related to Teen story

Allison Brustofski sings one of the most beautiful songs ever written – Somewhere from West Side Story. Music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. © 1956. This arrangement was a hit for the amazing Barbara Streisand in 1985. NOW AVAILABLE ON ITUNES! itunes.apple.com ALSO AVAILABLE ON RHAPSODY! mp3.rhapsody.com “There are so many reasons to love this song, but I like it most of all because it’s about hope. Thanks to Max, Steve, and Jordan at Clearcut Studios in New Jersey for …

Some Classics

A Wrinkle in Time – (Newberry Medal Winner) This is simply a beautiful book that has blazed a trail in modern children’s fantasy by putting forward a story of several children embarking on a grand adventure; In this case to rescue their father. There is some fascinating and thoughtful stuff in this book like living stars and tesseracts. It is a perennial favorite and on every librarian’s list.

<p>A Wizard of Earthsea – Written by Ursula K. Leguin this is the first book in a series called The EarthSea series. Short and light but extraordinarily beautiful. This first book in the series follows a young boy named Ged as he goes from being a simple goat herd to a powerful wizard. It is simply beautiful and it brings forth some wonderful and magical themes such as the concept that everything (including dragons) has a secret name. And if you know the secret name you can control the thing (including dragons).

The Hobbit – This probably shouldn’t be on this list but it is so good that I can’t leave it off. With the absolute enormous success of the Lord of the Rings movies this book may be overlooked but I consider it better! It is also in the works to be a movie.

Five Children and it – This is one of the most popular books written by Edith Nesbit who is often credited with creating the whole genre of children embarking on fantasy adventures. Her books are in the public domain now and can easily be found for free. The theme of this book is: Be careful what you ask for. You may get it! That’s the message in this delightful tale of five youngsters who discover a bizarre sand creature that grants wishes. There’s a catch, of course: the wishes come undone at sunset, and worse yet, things often get out of hand!

Dragonflight – This book is a little more complex than earlier ones I have cited here and it tends toward being more of a novel for grownups but it very suitable for teens. We are introduced to a complex world of dragons through the main character Lessa. This book is often credited with being the book that has launched many a young girls writing career. It is the first book in a trilogy of books called The Dragon riders of Pern series.

A Princess of Mars: The first novel in the Edgar Rice Burroughs series and currently in the initial stages of being written into a movie or animation that will be made by Pixar. This is the first book in a series called John Carter of Mars and it is good rollicking fun in the tradition of the old pulp magazines. It is a favorite for young boys who like sword fighting big monsters.

Contemporary fantasy and fiction

When it comes to modern fantasy fiction for teens there is an enormous selection to choose from and that, in itself, could be an obstacle. Here are summaries of some of the more popular ones and I have also picked some that are currently slated to be made into a movie.

Artemis Fowl Series – This series of books takes a little bit of an unusual position as far as children’s books go because Artemis Fowl himself is a twelve year old genius and a criminal mastermind. The author of these books calls them Die Hard with Fairies! And the books are often characterized as being a high-octane and rip-roaring ride. It is a wildly popular series of books with a big website and even a wiki. There are currently five books in the series with the first being simply titled Artemis Fowl. The sixth book “The Time Paradox” is set to be released in July of 2008.

Here, there be Dragons – The title itself is rather mysterious and harkens back to another time. This was the phrase that cartographers used to write in patches of ocean that were unexplored. The basic premise of this story will really resonate with teens that are fans of fantasy itself because it starts with the unusual meeting of three young strangers John, Jack, and Charles on a rainy night in London. We later find out these three young men are J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Charles Williams.

The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches – This is a series of books that takes place in a world of magic and secrets called Ruin Mist. This book was slow to start but word of mouth turned it into a best seller. It is one of those relatively little known books and series that is very satisfying.

Septimus Heap – If magic and wizards are of strong appeal this series of books make a great alternative to Harry Potter. The Main character (Septimus) is the seventh son of a seventh son and the main line of the story follows two children switched at birth: a boy destined to be a wizard and a girl destined to be a princess. There are currently four books in the series and the first book has been picked up by Warner Brothers and is currently being made into a movie that is scheduled for release in 2010.

Any of these books or series will launch teens and young adults on a remarkable adventure into strange fantasy worlds and no joystick or keyboard is required.

There are lots of really clever decorating ideas that can be put into practice to reduce the onerous nature of decorating teen rooms for small spaces adequately. It’s not that decorating teen rooms are difficult. Just rather tricky to get the most appropriate ambiance that is acceptable to both you and you teen. You can incorporate creative decorating ideas that make the most of teen room’s small spaces by training the viewers’ eyes towards the vista you intend them to notice most and away from that you prefer them to not notice. Decorating teen rooms is much more than allowing your teen to imprint their personality on a room. To get the best from decorating your teen rooms for small spaces you need to consider the significance of suitable storage solutions and consider the best ways of augmenting space through the most pertinent use of furniture arrangements and soft furnishing solutions.

A room for your teen is much more than just an extension of a child’s bedroom. A room for your teen is their personal space where they learn how to cope with the highs and lows of growing up, where they plan their future and where their ambitions take shape — away from the prying eyes of the family they alternately love and “hate.” It is in this personal space that your young one will forge their personalities.

Those personalities that will be who they become as adults.

Where Dreams are Made

When you really are short of space you might consider taking a look at the Doimo Cityline website. They feature an interesting concept on teen rooms for small spaces with steps doubling up as drawers, a bed that slides out with ease to make it up in the morning and a shutter that conceals a built-in wardrobe. Vibrant colors and bold lines are the epitome of this year’s Italian designers – contemporary furniture designers such as Zalf. However, you don’t have to spend anywhere near as much as the cost of designer bedding to get the teen scene just right.

Take a look at the neon polka dot bedding range, such as the single duvet cover and pillowcase that retails at around $16 or so – certainly not a lot when you consider the difference this snazzy design will make to your teen’s bedroom. Another style for a teenage girl specifically (although there are similar ranges for the fellers), is the pink zebra print teenage bedding. It really is contemporary in its color scheme – deep cerise pink and rich regal purple. Again, it retails at much the same price as that above, although this range also features a pair of matching curtains as an addition to the duvet set.

Encourage Your Teen to Declutter

Any sort of clutter will ruin whatever attempt you make at decorating teen rooms for small spaces. If your teen shows too much resistance in this area of de-cluttering, convince your teen that you are following the principles of Feng Shui and clutter is not exactly synonymous with the concepts of Feng Shui! However, if you really are considering Feng Shui for your teen’s room, you need to invest in plenty of storage space so that everything can be put away and all that is left out for the eye to see are clean, uncluttered lines that tastefully sweep from one corner of the room to the other without a stray laundry basket or dirty trainer in sight!

When I was a teen I always wanted to go to the mall. Teens want to go to the mall. They want to shop alone, without parents, without their siblings there. Going to the mall is one of the best shopping experiences for teens. They get to hang out with their friends, talk to boys or girls. It’s a way of social networking for them outside of school.

Teens want to go somewhere where they can be themselves and be with their friends. Some of the best shopping malls I know of in Nevada are in Las Vegas. The Galleria at Sunset is a huge mall, that’s very sunny and open. Light comes in through the ceiling and there is a huge food court and lots of stores to go to. It’s also near a Halloween store, Best Buy, and plenty of restaurants. Teens love this mall because there are so many popular stores there like The Gap, Forever 21, and Charlotte Russo. Along with tons of music and video stores and of course all the large department stores like Meryvn’s, Dillards, JCPenny, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. This is a two story mall which also affords the experience of running up and down escalators and stairs and yelling at each other from one level to another! Not that mall security much likes that, but it’s what teens want to do. Another great mall in Vegas is the Boulevard Mall.

They have a lot of the same great stores as the Galleria, however this is a very large and long mall. All one story and on a main street in Vegas, near tons of fast food restaurants and not far from the high schools in the area. This is also one of the only malls in Vegas where you can find a Hello Kitty store that sells everything Hello Kitty along with all the other Hello Kitty friends. Some of the higher end malls that teens want to go to are at the casinos. During the day they can definitely be there, at night it’s a little bit different and a lot busier. The Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace, The Venetian, Planet Hollywood just to name a few.

These malls are very cool and have a lot shops and stores in there that your not going to find anywhere else in Vegas. Teens love these because there on the strip, in the heart of Vegas and there is so much to do at the mall and the casino itself. Teens want a fun experience while shopping so they can interact with their friends and get away from it all.

In today’s world there are so many models who want to become a model in their teen years. There are so many companies like Old Navy, Aerospatiale and Fitch etc. among others always have stressed the teenage group, hence their need for teenagers who would best model and reveal the image they want to expose to the industry. Customers in the teen ages from 12 to 17 were the ones seen with the highest spending that is they have been the targets of most of these companies. And these companies provide the best opportunities to these clothing lines.

The most common thing in a teen girl is to be the best model. Every young girl tries to be at the level best to be a model with beautiful dresses and catwalk, but some would achieve the dreams, some don’t. In today’s world modeling agencies look for different shapes and sizes rather than tall and skinny models. But the models should be fit and fine. They should look after their figure and should maintain it for longer period. If you do not have small body type, there is still work out there for you, but maintaining a strong diet and implement system is a must for any model, teenage.

So many popular magazines that board upon the teen stuff. Fashion probably plays the major part. The reason why teen models are used in modern issues like in Glamour, Elle.
It probably helps them to join the clientele because teens feel a strong bond with other teens. There are some advertisements that demand the dynamism and enthusiasm of a much younger model.

Teenagers should be warned. Child pornography is unrestrained in the internet so teens should take in mind to always tell their parents what they are doing. Taking help from their parents, teens can choose the suitable online and even limited modeling agencies. And models should be conscious of the policies and area. They must also place their own restrictions other than just going along with that of the agency’s and don’t just go posing a sexy facade.
Now the genuine work begins. During the genuine gush communication is key. You should listen to the photographer. Many photographers may bodily move you around in order to get the pose they want. You should get a good photo and you have to trust them.

Lot of models that have a future younger look will work as teen models until the age of 24. And most of the agencies will look for originality and assurance. Sometimes the one who is still young needs to have the confidence and maturity to face what can be quite a harsh at times.

If you want to make a career as a model then keep your range at its finest. It’s not late to start, nor is it too early to give up. You can make a fashion modeling career move and grow in the modeling industry. And one should not worry about not having a modeling job that may fit his or her talents. The new models can register themselves in online modeling websites.

Parenting adolescents is a huge challenge but with communication, teenage parenting can be made easier for you and your child. One of the hardest things in parenting adolescents is communicating in the right way, and here are some ways that teenage parenting can be made a little less stressful:

Empathy & Reassurance – a successful path to teenage parenting

Your teen may have difficulty identifying what she’s feeling. You probably know when she’s a bit upset, tired or irritated.

While feelings are natural, you might have to help your teen articulate them. Asking: “Are you a bit upset?” may help you both to identify the type and the extent of her feelings, and to find appropriate responses.

Reassure your teen your love and support does not depend on exam grades. If your teenagers don’t get the grades they expected, help them to keep it in perspective – everyone has some setbacks in life, whether it’s failing a driving test or an exam. They can always do resits. Reassure them you’re behind them 100 per cent, and help them to review all the options.

Communication

Teenage parenting requires effective communication skills. There are things you can do to make communication easier:

Take your cue from your teenager – there’s absolutely no point saying you want to talk, when he’s rushing to get ready for a night out.

Try to spend time alone with your teenager and go out somewhere if there aren’t any opportunities at home.

Share information about what’s going on in your life, but only for as long as your teen seems interested.

Use open questions that don’t just need a yes or no response. For example, “How did the music lesson go?” rather than “Did you have a good day?”

Don’t use a chat as an opportunity to nag or tell off.

Never put him down for his views or ideas; he needs your approval.

Treat your teenager with respect, much as you would another adult.

It’s better to negotiate a solution than enforce your demands, so don’t say, “I want your room cleaned up tonight,” but “I’m getting really upset at the state of your room. When do you think you can tidy it up?”

Use all the opportunities you can to communicate – for example, driving somewhere often leads to great conversations.

Show you’re genuinely interested when your teenager tells you things and stop what you’re doing to listen.

Don’t overreact or fly off the handle if you don’t like what you hear.

Teenage parenting is fraught with dealing with difficult issues like, such as bad grades or worries about risky behaviour. It’s even more important to find a time when there are no external pressures and you’re feeling calm. Using “I” statements always helps. Say, “I’m worried about the way your school work is slipping,” not “You’re doing really badly in school.” Explain your concerns calmly and listen carefully to his side of the story. It’s fine to stress what you believe in and to be clear if there are any aspects of his behaviour you want him to change.

LET THEM GO Policy:

Teenage parenting is is all about you, the parent. Are you ready to let your teen take over this decision that you have been making for him/her? Take some time to think it through. While it won’t be all at once, there will be a time when it hits you that you aren’t always needed for important decisions, or that you may not agree with the decision your teen made yet the situation worked out fine without you. This can cause some melancholy feelings – and proud feelings too. Ah, the mix emotions of being a parent! You need to prepare yourself for it. When these thoughts and feelings hit, it is important to remember that you are doing a good job and your teenager is lucky to have you in his/her life.

Verbally spell out the conflict and end with a question: “What do you think you could do?” or “What are your options?” Help your teen list a few that he/she may not think of, but don’t do this task for him/her.

Spelling out the pros and cons will help him/her see the big picture of each option, thereby helping him/her choose appropriately. Younger teens often have trouble seeing the big picture, so they may need more help than a 17-year-old. But all teens can use their parents as sounding boards. Be available to listen and help even after your teen has developed good decision-making skills.

Hold your tongue just before you’re ready to say, “I think you should…” If your teen is used to you making the decisions and isn’t getting around to finalizing his thoughts on the options and choosing one, you may want to ask your teen if he/she is worried about ‘being allowed’. Many times at the teen home I would have a teen talk over all of the options and then wait quietly until I told them what they were allowed to choose. An awkward moment or two would follow and then the teen would realize that I wasn’t going to do the choosing and say, “Oh, you want me to choose. I didn’t know I was allowed.” So, this is simply solved by verbally giving permission.

While you shouldn’t act like this is a business meeting, do talk to your teen about what happened, even if the outcome wasn’t what was hoped for. Discuss what he/she might do differently the next time and do not be judgmental. Give your teen positive feedback and tell him/her that you are proud that he/she took on this challenging decision. This will help you and your teen work through important decisions in his/her life. This will add to his/her self-confidence and maturity.

It is difficult to remember that our parents had the same problems parenting adolescents as we do today, but they did. If you manage to communicate with your teenager you are doing really well. Try and think about ways you can talk to your teenager – are there activities you can do together? Think about what you say to them – try and see things through their eyes. Think about how you react – keep calm. Bear these three things in mind and teenage parenting may just get a little less fraught.

As a senior in high school, the need to find a career for your future skyrockets. You will notice there are so many choices and end up choosing one you don’t like. Don’t worry. If you remember that you still have time to choose your future career you won’t feel pressured and end up jumping into a job you don’t like. If you are a teenager and still in high school or younger, you have time.

You may have had many ideas of what you wanted to be when you grow up when you were younger. Don’t completely throw them out the window. Minus the crazy ideas, some of them could be something you would still want to do. If you wanted to be a doctor, check it out. If you wanted to be a marine biologist, check it out. Just because you were little doesn’t mean it can’t happen. If you are still interested, give it a chance. Don’t let anyone else, including yourself, bash your dreams.

Look at what school subjects you excel at. If English is your strongest subject, you might want to check out careers in teaching, writing for magazines, writing novels or other creative writing, editing, journalism, or other careers that use English skills. For math or science, you might want to go into medicine, engineering, or business. If you like history, look into teaching, museum jobs, or anything related to your history era of choice. The subjects you are good at are often the subjects you enjoy. If you enjoy them and do well, you have available a great combination that can give you a great career.

Language skills can mean a career in translating or international business. Don’t rule out any creative careers such as in any type of the arts, theater, fine arts, acting, singing, etc. They are hard industries, but if you feel you can do it, go for it. Still, be realistic. If you want to go into dance, you have to understand that a lot of people that do it have taken dance classes for years and lessons for most of their lives. Know what you are equipped for. If you think you can work hard, maybe you could make it. Just realize what you are setting yourself up for. If you are someone who starts things and quits or never finishes, try not to pick something so ambitious that you think there is a possibility it might not be for you.

When you’ve come up with a list of careers you are interested in, find out more about them. Find out the pay, hours, stress level, and any other important aspects of the job. If you know someone in that career, ask them if they like it and what kind of person would be good for the job. Learning from someone who does the job is the best kind of research. Now if you decide you’ve thought up your dream job, go for it! Also, remember that if you don’t like it, it’s never too late to change. You are going to be doing this for the rest of your life and you are going to want to like it.
Watch the video related to teen dreams

What to do? When to do?

Deciding whether it is right for you to have sex is one of the most important decisions you will ever have to make. Use your own judgment and decide if it is the right time – and the right person. There are also other important physical factors to be considered like the possibility of becoming pregnant or getting a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Then, there are the emotional factors, too. Though a person’s body may feel ready for sex, sex also has very serious emotional consequences. Moral factors are important as well and family attitudes, personal values, or religious beliefs provide you with an inner voice which would guide you in resisting pressures to get sexually involved before the time is right.

Peer Pressure

Sometimes in your urge to feel one among your group of friends, you would be forced by your friends to lose your virginity. Unfortunately, some teens feel that they have to lose their virginity to keep up with their friends or to be accepted. Your friends who have already had sex with their boyfriends or girlfriends might tell you it isn’t a big deal. But sex isn’t something that’s only physical; it’s emotional, too. Your emotions might be different from your friends’ and hence it is not right to depend on your friends’ opinions to decide if it’s the right time for you to have sex. What matters to you is the most important thing, and your values may not match those of your friends. Each one has his or her individual opinion and that’s what makes one unique. Having sex to impress someone or to make your friends happy or just to prove that you have something in common with them won’t make you feel very good about yourself in the long run. True friends don’t really care whether a person is a virgin — they will respect your decisions, no matter what.

Misleading Movies

Sometimes you would be misled by TV shows and movies into thinking that every teen is having sex. Writers and producers may make a show or movie plot exciting by showing teens being sexually active, but remember they are only acting and hence they do not have to face real concerns. They don’t have to worry about being ready for sex, how they will feel later on, or what might happen as a result. What is shown in the films are stories and not real life. In real life every teen has to take his or her own sexual decisions.

Bad Boys and Greedy Girls

 Sometimes you want to keep your boyfriend or girlfriend happy but you don’t want to compromise what you think is right. As with almost every other major decision in life, do what you think is right….http://www.sitagita.com/view.asp?id=9621

This video from a Rapid City, South Dakota TV newscast is posted with permission from KOTA TV News Director John Petersen. KOTA TV did an excellent story on the tragic problem of teen suicide at the Lakota Rosebud Reservation. The teen suicide issue is just one of the projects of the White Buffalo Calf Woman Society (WBCWS) in Mission, SD that has served the Rosebud Sioux Reservation for nearly 30 years. On Sunday August 12 a benefit concert to aid the WBCWS will be held at the Custer …

If you’d like to find out about making any basketball team for teens then you must read the following article – it is sure to change all of your current knowledge of basketball. What would you do if you discovered that you can quite quickly elevate your basketball abilities by an incredible 30%? What’s more, you can make this progress by working at it at home. If you’re beginning to doubt this, or may think the concept is absurd, review the information that follows – it is going to astonish you.

Before we get into details, you have to understand a simple but key fact – in this sport, it’s not a simple question of which player is a better runner or jumper, rather, it’s about who knows what to do and when to do it. The competence to know what the competition has planned, or to decide on the spot whether to pass or try to shoot, has to do with cognitive abilities, another way of saying “brain skills.” A lot of people have the incorrect notion of these special skills as natural or inborn, but in fact these are not “born instincts” but actually are cognitive skills anyone can acquire.

It doesn’t really matter if you are only interested about making any basketball team for teens, or whether you are a student in junior high, highschool, or college – you can greatly improve your capacity to compete at a high level by learning some valuable pointers. A team of professionals has produced an exceptional software application that assists on achieving that; based on a “video game”, all you need to do is simply play it for 30 minutes or less, 1 or 2 times per week, for a period of a few weeks – the outcome is astonishing. Coaches from all around the united states (memphis and uconn, to name two) have noticed a dramatic upswing right after practicing individual players and even the whole team with this unbelievable system.

Prior to doing more research about making any basketball team for teens, i recommend that you “play with” this precious “secret” training system. It appears that the once unlikely dream of one day playing with the pros for a lot of young players becomes so near and so possible; those who used the system told of a remarkable improvement in their skills with just a few weeks of “playing.”
