Apart from the glamour which is associated with the modeling industry the money the teen models make is also huge and hence there is no reason why anybody would not get lured by it. But the first step toward becoming a teen model is definitely difficult and involves a lot of toil.

Parents are the best persons to provide support and guidance to their children. Since teen models are still minors they need proper supervision to make the right choice in their careers. Being a teen model and pursuing a career in modeling is challenging and involves a lot of struggle. The modeling industry has a lot of complexities. The industry is very demanding which might cause teenagers to mature fast.

As a parent it is your duty to support your kid as a teen model so that they feel confident. You must initiate their modeling career and help them build a model portfolio which will help them in getting noticed by agencies. You must offer suggestions when it comes to taking decisions regarding preparing the model portfolio. Your actions would definitely go a long way in providing the much needed boost in their struggle to make a mark in the modeling world. You should also make the kid aware of the darker sides of the industry and how to keep themselves out of trouble.

As a parent it is your duty to maintain your cool and respect your child’s decision. At times, many parents often object to their choices when they express their desire to pursue a modeling career. Parents must support them through the process and at times can helm him/her with appropriate suggestions. If the teenagers are aware of the industry and its pros and cons they become mature enough to tackle various situations. Their run starts with preparing the right model portfolio. If the teen models are supported by their parents there are lesser chances of being exploited. For example, parents can suggest some good and trustworthy photographers they know for developing the model portfolio. This way they can be protective as well as supportive of their child’s attempt to pursue their dreams.

Finally, it is upon the parents to keep their teen models grounded. There is every chances that they may be swept off easily fantasizing of becoming super models. Hence they may try to spend all their time in pursuing their dream forgetting other responsibilities. The parents must make them aware of the ground reality and that such things may not be everlasting.

With electronic banking, this should be fun and easy to do each month!   Essentially, you set it up once and then everything happens automatically. 

1. Buy My Own Island fund: Set up a minor’s Individual Retirement Account through your brokerage.  This should be the first auto-deposit every month — money that earns money while you sleep!  The habit of investing is what’s important to establish first.  If you don’t know which stocks or funds to buy, just use a Treasury bill ETF for now.  (PowerShares.com has one.)
2. Charity: Have your teenagers write a check to their favorite charity and pop it in the mail!  (Let it be their choice, not yours.)
3. Education fund: College savings plans, aka 529 plans, are a great way to save up for college and the contribution should be tax deductible.
4. Fun, Immediate: CASH!!  Whether it’s a movie or ice cream, when the cash runs out, the fun must become free — like picnics, like board games, like spin the bottle (just kidding).
5. Fun, Big Ticket: Most bank accounts have a savings account attached these days.  Let that be where your teen saves up for the new iPod or even a car!
6. Basic Needs: Standard Bank Account.  The key here is to have 50% spent on thriving first — before basic needs — so that the focus is on living a rich life, instead of struggling to survive.  Now, your teen has 50% of the $100, or only $50 to spend on basic needs.  Your teen won’t have to worry about food, housing and insurance yet, but why not let them buy their own shampoo, after school snacks, gas, clothes, etc?

What we’re doing with the Thrive budget is teaching the average person exactly what it takes to live like a billionaire.  Billionaires, like Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple Computer, understand the flow of money.  They sleep on couches to launch their dream businesses.  They sit on non-profit boards to meet the great minds and deep wallets who will invest in their dreams.  They never overspend on basic needs or fleeting fantasies. So, tell your teen that this is Billionaire Boot Camp!  S/he’s never going to get rich by burning through her dough and/or blowing her charitable contributions on movies.   

If s/he wants more money for fun, there is one easy way to do that while remaining in the dream come true life budget — increase income.  If her basic needs are out of whack — which is easy to do with high gas prices — there’s a solution for that — get creative!

My teenage son discovered that he was spending over $50 a week on gas going to work and college.  The second week, he bought a bike and pedaled around town for free.  That was an instant reduction in basic needs!  Get creative.  Carpool.  Take public transportation.  Buy a hybrid or an electric car.  Ride a bike. 

The best solution to a surly teen, however, is to start these money habits earlier.   Teens are so busy trying to buy more freedom from you that they’ll forget to attack the family traditions that have been ingrained since elementary school.

Well, making money for a teen may be even easier today than in the past because there are so many more entrepreneurial ideas out there now that industrious teens can even start projects to earn money and end up with a career. But even if your teen’s goal does not go much further than some extra money for burgers or candy, getting a teen started now learning about financial responsibility will be a lesson taken with them for a lifetime.

There are many ideas that can net a teen some cash. Here we’ll discuss some of the more common routes teens take and some more creative ideas for a teen to make some money.

Retail/Food Service
Many teens of working age (15 and up) find after school or weekend work at local fast food restaurants or in retail stores in the mall. Many such establishments will work with a teen on schedules and offer minimum wage.

Babysitter
With so many parents having to go back to work, there is a larger need for after school child care. Teens who are too young to work in retail can find work sitting with neighborhood children.

Handy Person
If you live in a community where there are elderly neighbors or single moms, a teen can find lots of odd jobs to do. Lawn care, painting, snow removal, and general repairs can be done by teens on a regular or as-needed basis. Go door to door or posts “work wanted” signs at the local grocery store.

Computer Lessons
For teens who are technologically advanced, they can earn some side money teaching others how to use computers and software. There are many adults who are not computer capable and would likely pay for lessons in basic knowledge of software and internet.

Paid Internships
Teens who have an idea of what they want to be “when they grow up” might be able to secure a paid internship in the industry they plan to pursue. This internship will not only earn them an income but it will also provide invaluable information and experience teens can carry with them after high school graduation. If you have friends or relatives in the industry of choice, ask for referrals on paid internship opportunities or speak with the school’s guidance counselor.

Monthly Car Wash
If your teen has a group of friends who are interested in earning some weekend cash, they can organize monthly car washes. If hosted each month, the community becomes more aware of the service and teens can likely get repeat and new customers each month.

Selling Skills
If a teen is artistically inclined, they can visit weekend farmer’s markets or other locations and provide charactures or drawings of customers. There are many skills a teen may have developed at a young age and can easily learn how to earn money using their skills. This can be their first lesson in freelancing towards a profitable future career.

Tutoring
If your teen excels at a specific subject, they can advertise their tutoring services around the community or throughout school. Tutoring often generates a decent hourly pay and if the teen is able to take on tutoring work for more than one student at a time, they can earn a nice income.

All teens will have different ideas about how they want to earn money and there are many opportunities available to them if they have the support and encouragement from their parents. Teens who learn money management lessons now will likely avoid debt hassles in the future.

One gift that ever teenager wants would be an MP3 Player or IPOD. Most likely the IPOD because they tends to be the “in” thing, however even phones are able to do the same trick. Surprise your teen with a new phone. Each carrier has many different options, colors, and designs. This way you serve two purposes, one a way to stay in touch and two your teen gets to enjoy listening to music. Of course it is also more cost effective to buy one phone that can play music than a phone and an IPOD.

Another piece of technology that teens will enjoy this holiday season is a portable DVD player. Of course I would not recommend this be taken to school, but on those long car rides, it would sure be nice to occupy your bored teenagers with a movie player. Or maybe you can all enjoy watching a DVD together. A little family time could never hurt.

Game systems, video games, portable gaming now belongs to children of all ages, but certainly teenagers will never refuse. These days’ teens can enjoy gaming wherever they are, at home or in the car. Getting them an Xbox, WII or PS3 this holiday will definitely win you cool points with them and their friends. Video games never get old and they are making some that improve your mind, eyes and vocabulary. Learning is now fun and disguised as a video game. Of course one may argue that teens already spend enough time by themselves with their friends. Why can’t we do a family activity together? Ok, there are games like “Scene It” or “Guitar Hero” that plug into your television and create some family friendly competition. Go up against your teen to see who can play the best lead guitar. You will look like the coolest parent. Plus they can always invite their friends over to play at home, rather than using your precious gas and money at the mall.

Cameras and Camcorders are another gift idea that will definitely bring a smile to your teen’s face. They can take pictures or video of their family, friends and outings. Make a cool photo album or add a video to You-tube. Your teen will be creative and inventive with these gifts. Another idea to keep the creativity rolling is a new computer. Desktop or notebook computers are probably more affordable now than they ever were. Plus they come with printers or cameras. A teen in today’s world should know how to use a computer, not only to type a paper or get a job, but to be inventive and creative. Did you see the commercial the kid made with his i-phone? It was amazing and featured on television. Could your teen create the next commercial or write a song? The software is out there to help. Even though the internet may not be the safest place for a teen, the computer can still provide some valuable skills.

Enough gifts for the indoors, here are some suggestions if you would want your teen to be outside. Maybe a new snowboard, wakeboard, paintball gun, skateboard, basketball hoop, softball tee, and there are many other ideas. Just choose an activity that he or she enjoys or that you can play together. It is never too late to learn a new sport with your teen.

Shopping for your teen this holiday season should now be a little easier with these helpful suggestions. Now your moody hormone ridden teen can wear a smile on their face and so can you.

In order to become a teen model, you first have to get a portfolio together.  You need to be photographed by a professional photographer in various poses.  In many cases, you may wish for a professional makeup artist to do your makeup and a hair stylist to do your hair.  You want to look your very best in your portfolio because this is what clients will look at when they are hiring you. 

After the portfolio has been properly put together, you need to then go online to a site where you can post your portfolio and also look for modeling jobs.  Some of the modeling jobs will come to you, based upon your portfolio.  Others you can look for.  When you use an interactive teen modeling site, you do not have to wait for the jobs to come to you.  The site acts like a modeling agency for you and posts jobs for teen models as well as other models.  You can look for jobs and then send potential clients to your portfolio.  You can get anywhere from $100 to thousands of dollars, depending on the job that is offered.  Most of the jobs that are offered for online teen modeling are not done on a location.  They will send you outfits that you can wear and tell you how to pose.  You can then get the photographer to take pictures and receive your income. 

The jobs where the customer only wants portfolio pictures, such as those for teen sites will pay less, but do not require you to do any extra work.  Online teen models are very much in demand and as the internet continues to grow, they will be even more so.
